Mooneera has studied and performed Middle Eastern Dance for
over ten years. Initially trained in American Cabaret style dance,
she has drawn inspiration from a variety of traditional ethnic
dances such as Arabic, Egyptian raqs sharki, Turkish, Greek,
Lebanese, Andalusian 'belly' dance, Flamenco, Hawaiian,
Tahitian and Modern dance.

With extensive experience performing at festivals, weddings,
family style restaurants, and on stage, Mooneera strives to
present traditional costumes and music appropriate for the
audience, occasion and/or theme. Mooneera is also a former
member of the multi-award winning Troupe, Raqs Sahibat. She
is currently conducting group and private lessons in Middle
Eastern Dance, as well as performing at several regular venues.

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Mooneera's Latin American
upbringing has always surrounded her with music and dance.
Whether dancing and singing with family or appreciating the
cultural diversity of music and dance in local clubs and
restaurants, she showcases traditional dances and adornments
of the Middle East, while incorporating her own Latin heritage
with Andalusian style music and dance.

Mooneera received her bachelor's degree in Biology from Cal
State Hayward and is drawn to outdoor activities such as
cycling, snow skiing, boarding, rock climbing, and kayaking. The
natural progression in her life led to the pursuit of a career in the
fitness industry and Physical Therapy. With a lifetime of
experience in movement behind her, she strives to include this
knowledge in teaching elegant techniques in style and posture
as well as rendering unforgettable performances.
